I’ve never cared so little about an election.
7 out of 11 of you were right. We’re having a boy. Through the miracle of science we were able to see through Vicki’s skin and into the womb where we discovered a small boy, the length of a banana, and just the right size for 20 weeks and 5 days. We saw him moving his arms, legs, fingers, and even his mouth and lips. It was amazing.

The Countdown is On…….
Saturday, November 1st, 2008 | Uncategorized | 11 Comments
We are now on the final countdown to finding out what our precious little baby is going to be!!! YEA….it will finally have an identity!!!
Tuesday, November 4 is the day we go in for our big ultrasound. Please be in prayer for us that all is well! (and that I am not blubbering so hard that I can’t look at the ultrasound screen)
Bert and I have really not had any major discussions as to what we think we are having or what we want to have. We are both in agreement that a boy would be great as would a girl!!! We have just been praying for it to be healthy and strong!!!
So we have left the speculations up to everyone else! If you have a feeling or any thoughts as to what you think we are having, click below (or go to the actual website if you are reading this in your email) and gives us your guess and reason why. We will be sure to let you know, as soon as we know, what we are having!!!!
I am in my 20th week, half way there, with so much to do!!! We have started cleaning out the back room to prepare it for the nursery and have started picking out colors. We are actually thinking of just a really nice neutral “color” and not going with pink, blue, green, etc!
Also…..once we find out, we have the exciting/overwhelming task of starting our baby registry. SOOO….if you have a product that you think is the best and a must have….please leave us a comment here and let us know!!! (or if you know people who are looking to get rid of great stuff….also…let us know!)
ALL ADVICE AND SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOME!!!
The baby is really starting to get active in there! I love it! This morning I was able to feel the movement from the outside. Bert then sat there with his hand on my stomach forever and then the baby would not move!! He can not wait to be able to feel the baby move, he says that it is not fair that I get to feel it and he can’t! : )
Sleeping has not been so great lately due to my hips REALLY hurting!! I have been sick this week and ended up sleeping on the couch in the office. What a great nights sleep that was!!!!!!! Bert says we will either have to put a mattress in the office by the couch for him, or figure out how to get the couch in the bedroom for me so we can sleep in the same room! : )
oh yeah…..the baby is now the length of a banana!!
Thank you for sharing in this special time with us!!!
3 days left!!!!
Love,
Vicki and Bert
18 Weeks

Hey Everyone!
Wow, time is flying! I can not believe that we are already in our 18th week. My baby bump is starting to grow! I had an appointment this past week and heard the heart beat again…..very strong and great to hear!!
Some highlights this week with our baby is that it is starting to hear now, so we are talking to it, and of course singing as well! I need to start buying little baby books so we can read as well. We bought these great Veggie Tales CD’s two nights ago, one is a lullaby and two are sunday school songs. The lullaby is my favorite.
Also our baby is about 5 1/2 inches long and almost 7 ounces. The baby is starting to flex its arms and legs. I am supposed to start feeling this, and think I have about 3 or 4 times, but nothing consistent. At this point, we are looking at finding out the sex of the baby on November 4th. We are working at getting that date bumped up because we are both so anxious to find out what we are having that it is killing us!! Click here to see what our baby is looking like these days.
A lot has been going on. I have started a part-time job with a Child Advocacy Center in addition to continuing my contract work. I have also started a pre-natal yoga class, which I am starting to really enjoy and can see the great benefits that will come from it during pregnancy, while delivering, and in my recovery. Not to mention the bond it is supposed to help create between me and the baby. Bert has been busy with his continued passion for men’s ministry and he has been hired to create a website for an advocacy center. If anyone knows a company or organization needing a website, he does great work and would give them a good deal!
We ask that you continue to pray for us (as we prepare to become parents) and for the healthy development of our baby!
We love you all, and are so happy to be able to share with you what is going on with us!
We love to hear your comments so please leave us any comment or advice you would like!

If you’ve tried to use the “Updates by Email” tool in the sidebar and couldn’t get past the ‘captcha’ (the thing that makes you type the random letters to prove that you are human and not a software program trying to spam us), then try again. It looks like feed burner got it fixed. If you’re still having trouble you can use the “Contact Us” page to let us know. If you are reading this in your email box, please disregard, if not… what are you waiting for?

Check out our baby lime!
Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008 | Uncategorized | 1 Comment
Well, from what we are reading, we have a lime! We are now 12 weeks along and our baby is the size of a lime. The big development this week are the reflexes. Our baby’s fingers will begin to open and close, it’s toes will curl, eye muscles will clench, and the mouth will start making sucking movements. This is such an amazing amazing miracle that happening inside me. It is still hard to wrap my mind around all that is taking place.
The baby is moving quite a bit now. No….I can’t feel it yet, but the books say it is like water ballet. Too small to feel at this point, but once I know what the movement feels like I will feel and recognize it at about this time in the next pregnancy.
If you would like to see what the baby is looking like, click here to see the progress.
Most of my morning sickness is gone, but certain foods sure make me feel icky. Bert is so great to take care of me and make sure I am doing okay!! He’s the best!!!!!!
I would love to be that woman that just breezes right through her pregnancy with no pains or worries…. but folks…..that is just not the case! There are crazy changes going on in this body!!!! and yes….I know there is much more to come!!! : )
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers!
Boan Activism

Jamie Hudson / The Item,Herbert Boan places a makeshift sign in the ground. Boan, along with other opponents of the capital penny sales tax, is campaigning against the measure, saying that Sumter residents "can't afford it and we don't need it."If you’d ever wondered where I (Bert) get my over active sence of justice… just visit the website of The Sumter Daily Item newspaper to see my Dad fighting unjust taxation.
Our Baby at 10 Weeks
Friday, August 22nd, 2008 | Baby, Pregnancy | No Comments
Thursday we hit 10 weeks. So, we are now 10 wks 1 day!
I have been doing really well. I now have a bit of a pregnant belly!! Some say it is so cute. I am working on getting that mindset to not have the “I just look fat” mind set! : )
I had pretty bad morning sickness (which was just feeling very nauseas and ill pretty much all day) starting on Monday, July 28. The following Tuesday, August 5, my doctor prescribed some meds for it. I took the meds, which were a life saver, and then woke up on Tuesday, August 12, feeling pretty good. No more morning sickness and no more meds. Pretty lucky I think that it only last a little over two weeks.
If you click here, it will take you to a picture to show you what our baby is looking like right now. It is very exciting!!! arms, hair, toenails and fingernails. We still won’t know the sex for several weeks!!
Thanks for stopping by!
